Ready to rock n roll

Since officially reaching construction stage two weeks ago, my blogging fingers have been itching to report exciting news of building activity at the block.

Last Friday I resisted the urge to post an update about the unmistakable evidence of the peg out survey….red sticks poking out of the four corners of the block. Not the most earth-shattering news by any means but progress nonetheless!

Site Pegged Out 28.11.14

I’d hoped to hear from our Site Manager all week to get an idea of what to expect over the next couple of weeks before the Christmas shutdown. But when the days went by without a word from the SM, I started to lose hope of seeing any action on our block this year.

So, imagine my surprise when I drove by the block today and saw not only the temporary fence up but the site had clearly been cut, filled and scraped. Woo friggin hoo!!!

Well I decided to give the SM an impromptu call to introduce myself. He sounded apologetic about not calling earlier but all was forgiven as he made up for it by giving me the best news ever…piering was scheduled for tomorrow and slab pour is definitely booked for next week! OMG! Is it really happening??????

As an aside, our new CSC sent us a ‘Welcome to Construction’ email which contained a reminder that we are not permitted on site without a Metricon representative.  As if that letter wasn’t enough to deter us sneaking in unsupervised, it turns out Metricon have installed surveillance camera on site. Hmm I might have to get a drone to take photos of the build progress?

Now eagerly awaiting the arrival of the portaloo 🙂
